|
|
As everyone knows by now, I am moving to North Carolina soon. Bernie is still parked in my barn and needs to go to a new home. As a team we need to come up with ideas for storage and the future of Bernie.
Mark can offer outside storage space for Bernie but I have concerns that the car will slowly disappear due to "scrap metal dealers" roaming that area. He can also offer inside storage for items like the wheels, seat etc..
A few people have asked me about buying some of the items that we have for Bernie, notably the Azeni's and the seat. Should we go ahead and sell these and if so, how do we divide the money in a fair way.
I also have 2 totes with disposable plates, cups, sugar, etc that was left over from the events. Not really high value items, I just need to know what the team wants to do with it.
Lastly, I still have about $80 left in the bank account from last year's race. What does the team want to do with it?
Please post comments and suggestions. _________________ Neil C.

Tony, have you been speaking with my friend Jonathan? He's taken to tongue-in-cheek pronouncing it as "definAtely" since that seems to be how most people spell it nowadays.
If the plan is to keep Bernie in action, I have a pair of mismatched color GR-2 struts for the front, for which I paid $5 each. Don't ask why, just chalk it up to gearhead shopping logic. _________________ - Pete (Resident Dirt Eater)

I'm not sure where I stand/rank in terms of opinion on it. That said:
I would hate to see it just sit and rot but I don't have time/place for it. If it can be sold I would say sell it and recoup whatever costs there can be from it.
What size are the Azenis? Strangely enough I might be interested in them. I would love the seat but don't think I can exit the car properly with it installed without cage modification ($$$ that I don't have).
As for the money. I can say that the $600 or so that I stroked a check for was 100% a write off. I spend that on a weekend of racing without even paying my entry fee. Basically I was renting a seat for the race. So I am in no way expecting anything back (not sure if Niel's intent was anything different).
I would think that it should be an easy sell, no? It's a past winner, there a couple of "regional" races coming up. Couple hundred for the car and a thousand+ or so for the safety equipment. Really someone just needs a motor and has a car capable of running up front. _________________ Ron Dodson

Is there a place to advertise the car to other LeMons teams? Like their forums? If its going to sell, it'll sell to that crowd better than anywhere else.
Seems like it would be best to decide to sell it whole or part it. As soon as someone buys a seat or the tyres or some other part, it'll make it harder to sell the rest. _________________ "I've done more maths than you!" - The cry of the Navigator

i'd really like to get ahold of the seat even if only to see if it fits.
what i really hope for is a smoking deal so i only have to pay full price for one seat. |

the engine is repairable, and we have all of the parts to fix it, sans gaskets. Selling the car complete with spares and without seat is probably the best option. I hate to see it go, but my dislike for Toyota engines is still pretty strong. Really wish we could run it again....... I had a blast.... _________________ Billy Shawver

GRM forums/classifieds would probably be a good place to list the car. _________________ -Anson Clement
