Oh, question I had: What were the average speeds per lap and average top speeds per lap? |
I posed that question to Mr Lamm. He hasn't got the data yet, but it will be posted when he does. Check the Results page on the Lemons site, they have the last race on there, this one should follow. _________________ "Seeking to do the impossible with the ridiculous."

I think someone said that the radar gun showed the fastest cars at 41 mph top speed and as an average, we ran about 30 mph for the entire 24 hours (if my math was correct). _________________ Kevin

I heard that 41mph number as well - it can't be right.
During the first half of my stint, I regularly went to the redline in second gear and occasionally managed to get some revs in for third as well.
http://forums.celicasupra.com/showthread.php?t=5127
shows a gearing chart for the car. With the lowest listed gearing, 6500rpm in second is 58mph; with the highest, it's 66mph.
I'm willing to bet that I hit 70mph on the oval once or twice.
Now, I'd accept that we were hitting 41mph past the start/finish line, which is typically where you'd put a radar gun at an oval track. _________________ Jack B.

Though I never bounced off the redline, I wound 2nd out and ran well into thirds power band on almost every lap (didn't want to make allot of heat). I'd entertian the thought of clutch slippage, but it gripped well enough to powerslide out of the last turn.

Eric, keep in mind that you and Jack used two different diameter tires. Yours were 215/60 R14, and I believe that the second set was 205/60 R14. They might also have been 205/55. Maybe Kevin remembers better than I do. The second set was definitely smaller.
Judging from where our crew stood most of the race, we saw the cars come by just as you'd lift off for the turn on to the infield. My ears and eyeballs told me you guys were coming by faster than 41mph. _________________ -Mark M.

Eric, I wanted to know what *WE* (well, YOU) were doing, not what the non-winnars were doing
That's about what I was suspecting, thanks guys. _________________ - Pete (Resident Dirt Eater)

I can remember that they were black, round, full of air and slightly smaller than our other tires. And, that they went on the car in about 3 minutes. Other than that, I can't say. _________________ Kevin

Yeah. Talk about freaking fast for a tire change with a crew who had never done it before.
This team certainly needs no nickelz to be called professional. _________________ www.pakexp.com

I helped and even I can not believe it. Now imagine if we had the car square in the pit box and did not initially put the wrong wheel on the left rear (the tire that should have gone to the rear went on the front as the wheel that was supposed to go there was in front of the car). And no, Eric, we do hold you responsible for the bad parking job.
Honestly, even if we did the change in 4 minutes it still would have been pretty good. _________________ Neil C.

We formulated a plan, gave everyone a job and stuck to it. Everyone nailed their positions and things went really well. We didn't do too badly considering we had no light on one side of the car so we were working in ambient light and that most of the crew had not had much, if any, sleep. The rear tire mix up involved us putting the old tire back on that side, so we pulled it and swapped it pronto (again). No worries, it happens and things were hectic. I was proud of everyone on the team for everything they did for that event. However, I was most proud of that pit stop and the fact that it didn't fall apart due to any number of things (it only takes one). You guys are amazing and you managed to make me look good!
Not bad for a couple of hacks, some amatuers, a redneck, and some power tools.... _________________ Kevin

Everything that we may have bungled this year will be corrected next year. We still won this year, so we will do that again next year as well. _________________ "Seeking to do the impossible with the ridiculous."

As you should be. We have now proven we're all better than you and others who are jealous like you.
Thanks again to everyone who's congratulated us, the rest of the team, and all who contributed in even the smallest ways. I hope we have even more participation next year for a one-two finish Then we'll be banned.... _________________ ~Miles

Just keep in mind, everyone on this board had the opportunity to participate. _________________ -Mark M.
